K-9 Unit
The Turner County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit was established in 2004. The mission of the K-9 Unit is to locate suspects and/or evidence at or near crime scenes and to provide protection and/or backup of the line officers when possible and practical. We also participate in public education and demonstrations. The Unit consists of one tracking dog and one narcotics detection dog. The K-9 Unit provides for 24-hour a day response capabilities. The K-9 handlers and their partners undergo an exhaustive training regimen upon entrance to the program, and continue to train on a weekly basis to maintain a high level of proficiency.
